“Movement is the only way you have of affecting the world around you”
-Daniel Wolpert

Movement seems to be the simplest thing of all. We human beings are designed to move, run and jump but as adulting and life happens, how often do we reach our full potential?

In today’s fast paced world, social life, long working hours and family time often takes precedence over focusing on health and has become easier to overlook the importance of movement in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our bodies are designed to move, and this movement extends beyond physical workouts, influencing our overall well-being by enhancing both physical and mental health.

Top physical benefits of moving:

I. Weight management: Physical movement helps to burn calories and increase metabolism rate which leads to weight loss. It also helps in regulating hunger hormone and improves the body’s ability to metabolize fats and sugars, making it easier to maintain a balanced diet and avoid overeating.

  • II. Improved Cardiovascular Health: Movement at regular intervals is one of the best way to keep your heart healthy. Activities like walking, running, swimming, or cycling help keep your heart healthy by lowering blood pressure, reducing bad cholesterol, and increasing good cholesterol. A strong cardiovascular system means a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, and other related conditions.
  • III. Enhanced Flexibility and Strength: Regular movement helps maintain and build muscle strength, which is essential for daily activities and overall mobility.

  • Top emotional and mental benefits of moving:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety: Movement stimulates the production of endorphins which are known as the body's natural mood enhancers. These endorphins help to reduce feelings of stress and depression, leading to a more positive mental state.
  • Enhanced cognitive function: Moving around is not only good for the body but also for the brain. Movements at regular intervals increases blood flow to the brain, which improves memory, concentration, and cognitive function.
  • Better sleep quality: Regular movement has a direct impact on sleep quality. It helps you to  sleep faster and enjoy deeper, more restful sleep.
